In Gratitude, Wellness

Hi there!

Over the last month, we have been looking at what habits you can do everyday to help move you from a place of feeling completely empty and depleted to one where your soul is overflowing.

All too often the stressors and chaos of life can drain the energy right under our feet. If you are not mindful of filling your depleted soul, one day of emptiness can turn into days, months, and even years.

Before you know it, you are living life in survival mode. And that, friend, is not how God intended you to live.

He wants you to wake up everyday alive and ready to be a light to His world.

Finding this renewed energy, joy, and passion comes with time and intentional moments in your day to work on filling your soul.

I believe that moving from an empty soul to one that is overflowing with abundance requires you to:

Gratitude

“This is the day which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

 

Gratitude is the simple act of giving thanks.

Whether expressed in the moment, casually throughout the day, or in the evening before dosing off to sleep, pausing to give thanks for your many blessings is a way to fill your parched soul.

This pause will allow you to shift your focus from what didn’t go well in the day, to what you are thankful for, despite the stress.

You see it is in our nature to see and dwell in the negative; to live and then relive those moments that caused you hurt, pain, and exhaustion.

You can choose to live focused on those stressors or you can choose to find the good.

It is when you choose to find the good that your soul fills and you find peace and joy.

Oprah Winfrey was quoted in saying, “The single greatest thing you can do to change your life today would be to start being grateful for what you have right now.”

When you spend the time to say, “Thank you, God” your need for more turns into enough and you begin living in the moment.

Isn’t that where God wants us – living for today? “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34, NIV).

Friend, expressing gratitude is one of the easiest ways to renew your exhausted soul.

I encourage you to print off the gratitude journaling page and lay it on your night stand by your bed. Before you close your eyes, spend just a few minutes saying thank you to God for the many blessings He has provided to you.

I can’t think of any better way than this to fall asleep.
