In Mindfulness

When I was chin-deep in living life stressed-out and out of balance, never did I look up. I always looked out to other working moms who had it all “put together.” Or so I believed.

I constantly compared myself to this “other women.” Thoughts such as: ” How is she able to navigate a professional career while easily taking care of her children, house, and still maintaining her friendships?”

“If she can do it, why can’t I?”

Whether they truly had it all together is negotiable. In fact, while my mind told me that they too probably struggled to find balance as much as I did, my heart, believed they could do it all and perfectly.

I was baffled and jealous.

I wanted to be this “other women” and I was mad I couldn’t be.

It wasn’t until years later that I started to read the Bible, our instructional manual for life. It was here that I realized I spent too much time looking out rather than looking up.

I forgot that God created me – unique and one-of-a-kind. He created me different from others, with special strengths and weaknesses. One of these weaknesses happened to be living life balanced when I had too much on my plate.

I learned – very slowly – that God created me so that I couldn’t do it all. He wanted me (and He wants you!) to have areas we struggle with so that we rely on Him for our strength.

Dear friend, when do you tend to look out more than you look up? Go ahead and hit reply to let me know!

How does this verse help remind you that God created you and He see’s you as perfect, just the way you are?

Yes, even with your weakness, He see’s you as perfect!

Next time you find yourself comparing your strengths and abilities with other women, look up and ask God to help you remember you are unique and created perfectly by your heavenly Father.
