In Mindfulness, Spirituality

If I were to meet you at the grocery store and ask you, “How are you doing?,” how would be your respond?

If you are like 99% of the women I know, the answer would be “BUSY!” You wouldn’t even need to explain why you are busy. As your friend, I would smile and nod and simply say, “I understand!”

What if the next time I saw you and I again asked you, “How are you doing?” and you responded with “I’m doing better! I’m finding more margin in my life.”

Margin—It’s what women crave and yet can’t quite achieve.

The dictionary defines margin as “the edge or border of something.” When we have margin in our lives, we have space to stop and marvel at wonder of God’s nature, to do those things that fill us up, to take care of ourselves, and to be present and fully engaged with God and those we love.

Do you have margin in your life?

Last time we chatted, I asked you to take an honest assessment of what tasks and responsibilities you currently serve. I asked you to also identify those areas of your life that are not a priority in your current season of life. If you have gotten this far, congratulations! Now, it is time to take it one step further and purge these responsibilities from your days.

I know this is the hard step. I find that it is often easier to just keep going with the ‘same old, same old’ than to have the tough conversations with people saying you can no longer fulfill your commitments. The guilt of letting others down often is stronger than our ability to say ‘no more.’

Or it may be easier to just keep doing a responsibility that no longer serves you because it takes more time and effort to either ask for help or show others what to do.

But, as Galatians 5:1 says,“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

It is those responsibilities you have identified as no longer serving you in your current season of life that are your yokes of slavery! These yokes are your burdens that you carry with you day in and day out.

Taking the steps to release these burdens allows you the freedom to live out a more simplified life.

Today is your day to set yourself free!

Peace, contentment, and simplicity are waiting for you on the other side.

Are you ready to release your yokes and start living the life you dream?

I sure hope so and I’m cheering you on as you journey towards a more full-filled life. If you feel lost in how to make life more simplified, connect with me! I want nothing more than to get you on the path to peace and simplicity.

Praying You Through,
Angie
